Meet Dr. Mallory Scott

Dr. Mallory Scott is so excited to be back in Columbia at Boyd Orthodontics! She first worked with Dr. Boyd back in 2010. She learned so much about running a practice, she decided to open her own in 2012 in Beaufort, South Carolina. She then bought a satellite office in Hilton Head and operated both for nine years before deciding to make the move back to the midlands in January 2021.

Dr. Scott graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Clemson University. She then pursued a Ph.D. in psychology before a career change to dentistry. She received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina and then continued on to Saint Louis University where she earned a Master of Science in Dentistry in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Throughout her educational career, Dr. Scott was very involved with teaching and research. As an undergraduate, she was a research assistant in social psychology. As a graduate, she helped conduct research as part of the Military Family Research Institute. After switching gears to dentistry, she was a teaching assistant for dental students at MUSC in oral immunobiology and the orthodontics course at Southern Illinois University Dental School. Currently, Dr. Scott is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and serves on the board of the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation.

In her free time, Dr. Scott enjoys playing tennis, hot yoga and buying shoes. Her husband, Jake, splits his time as a fighter pilot at McEntire Joint National Guard Base and helps to run a fourth generation family sawmill in Allendale. Together, they enjoy traveling, being on the water, and entertaining their dog Bogey (who enjoys chasing squirrels, barking at passing boats, and sleeping late).
